What causes low water pressure?

Low water pressure can be caused by either a home's gate valve not being fully opened, recent repairs to existing plumbing, or too great a demand for the available water supply. The city's water pumping systems are electronically controlled through a computerized management system to operate between 40 and 60 pounds per square inch (psi).
