Boards, commissions, and committees in various areas of interest have been organized to encourage citizens to take an active part in their city's government.
Government Code Section 54970 requires the following appointment list to be posted on an annual basis by December 31st.

- Parking and Traffic Commission
- Planning Commission

The duties of the Parking and Traffic Commission are to investigate ways and means of improving parking and traffic movements and make appropriate recommendations.
The Parks and Recreation Commission's duties are to study and advise on all matters pertaining to the city's public parks and recreation programs.
The Planning Commission has the principal duty of establishing and maintaining the General Plan of the community and advising on physical development, zoning, subdivision proposals, and special studies so that community values are maintained and protected.
